The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide suitable first-aid equipment, facilities and personnel to enable immediate assistance to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work.

Role of a First Aider
Hygiene Measures
Recording incidents and actions
Assess the situation and how to act safely, promptly and effictively in an emergency
Administer first aid to an unconscious casualty ( including a seizure)
Administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Adminster first aid to a casualty who is choking
Adminster first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
Adminster first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
Course Duration: 3 days
Course Overview:
In accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Once qualified, holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be used as First Aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience. The First Aid at Work course is run over three days and includes both theory and practical sessions.

Eye injuries
Sudden poisoning
Anaphylactic shock
Heart, Stroke, Epilepsy, Asthma and Diabetes

Course Overview:
This qualification is designed for individuals wishing to gain the knowledge and skills required to enable them to provide effective emergency paediatric first aid. It is ideal for pre-school or nursery staff, toddler group volunteers and childminders. It is also suitable for parents, relatives and foster carers.

Assessing an emergency situation safely
CPR and AED
Administering first aid to a choking infant or child
Putting a casualty into the recovery position
Dealing with shock, bleeds, bites, stings and minor injuries
Course Duration: 2 days
Course Overview:
The objective of this qualification is to support learners wishing to become a paediatric first-aider in the workplace with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children.
Course Content:

Assessing an emergency situation safely CPR and AED
Administering first aid to a choking infant or child
Dealing with shock, bleeds, bites, stings and minor injuries
Dealing with casualties with fractures, and spinal or head injuries
